Importance of faith

We tend to be more moral when thinking about moralty, or when morality is brought to our attention, see: Dishonesty and cheating

For example (See loc 3085 of The (Honest) Truth About Dishonesty) the prayer beads that muslims, buddists, christians use cause them to constantly be reminder of the existance of god. The hats worn by jews have a similar symbolism. The cross worn by Christians, etc.

Additionally, (loc 3409), he suggests that rules are harder to break when linked to a higher meaning, or other people: "we are all doing this together" or "this is what a good Christian would do" etc. This might be why AA focuses so much on God, since it makes the choice harder to break (not only are you part of a group with a rule of 'no drinking', but it would be against gods wishes also!)

TODO: Also discuss importance of faith for long-term thinking + strong rules, ala Cowen. TOD: Also, many points in Haidt around this
