Life Goals

In Shoe Dog, Phil Knight talks about wanting his life to be like a game, to capture the feeling he got in a race upon approaching the finish line shoulder to shoulder with another runner, and feel that way every day. To do this, he chooses a big goal, and attacks it like an athlete. Working daily, with a plan, with focus, griding away toward the goal.

Like in running, if someone asks 'why are you training, why is the goal important?' the goal is not instrinsicly important, but the motivation and joy it gives to life is important.
